Multifacética, talentosa, femenina, fiel a su instinto y a las ganas de hacer películas que le salgan del alma, Isabel Coixet se destaca desde hace ya tiempo entre sus pares. Su conexión con el séptimo arte viene desde pequeña, de su abuela, quién vendía boletos de cine, mientras Isabel se imaginaba lo grandioso que sería ser la persona detrás de las historias, la que las hacía, nunca la actriz. Nació en Barcelona en 1962 y ya adolescente escribía guiones para historietas, pero no sería hasta más adelante que realizaría su primera producción cinematográfica.Antes del cine, trabajó un como periodista en la revista Fotogramas, ahí realizó algunas entrevistas que según sus propias palabras fueron en su mayoría “horribles”. y en 1988 rodaría su primer largometraje, Demasiado viejo para morir joven. Desde entonces ha realizado varias películas, todas elogiados por la crítica y reconocidos a nivel internacional.

Su último filme, Elegy (2008), protagonizado por Penélope Cruz y Ben Kingsley, cuenta la historia de un carismático profesor, que está orgulloso de seducir a alumnas deseosas de probar experiencias nuevas. Sin embargo, no permitía que se le acercaran demasiado hasta que aparece Consuela y todo cambia… Hoy, esta directora catalana, se divide entre las películas y la publicidad, su otra pasión, siendo ampliamente reconocida en este ámbito también. Dueña de los más prestigiosos premios en este campo, cuenta entre clientes a empresas como: Ford, BMW, Ikea, Renault, Peugeot, Pepsi, Kellogg, Helene Curtis y Procter Gamble, entre muchos otros.Luego de ser directora creativa de algunas de las agencias más importantes a nivel mundial, creó su propia productora Miss Wasabi Films desde donde ahora dirige sus spots publicitarios, documentales, películas e incluso video-clips.
